OUR HISTORY
General Linen was originally founded in 1933, by Victor Whitney who later left it to his nephew, Robert Whitney. The company began as a fledgling single route, servicing local business’ with towels, aprons and floor mats. The company rented space for laundering and finally had its own brick and mortar in the laundry district in Boston, Massachusetts.
In 1978 construction began and the company made a great leap to our now home in Newburyport, Massachusetts. General Linen is proud to have its 4th generation in operations. We are grateful to continue the tradition that our predecessors set forth. We hope to serve the New England community for years to come. Thank you for your continued business!
